1902
HÖVELMANN WAS FOUNDED
On January 2nd, 1905 Hövelmann was established in Duisburg-Walsum, in the heart of the Ruhr area – a region characterized by coal mines and heavy industry.
At the beginning, a coal trading business was part of the company. The family business withstands WWI, the economic crisis in the early 1930s and WWII.
1945
REORGANIZATION
The three Hövelmann brothers put in a lot of effort to rebuild and reorganize the company. Short-distance and long distance transportation. The wheels kept on rolling.
1957
CONCENTRATION OF OWNERSHIP
In 1957 Ferdinand Hövelmann took over sole responsibility for the family business.
1971
FERDINAND HÖVELMANN
On July 8th, 1971 Ferdinand Möllenbeck took over Hövelmann. His vision was to be “not another company in transportation amongst others.” Consequently, the truck fleet was replaced by vehicles for special transportation. A very successful strategy.
1981
RELOCATION
Ten years after the takeover, the prospering business needed more space. As the area in Duisburg-Walsum was too small, a new facility was chosen. The company moved to Dinslaken in 1981 – where 18.000 smq total area are at disposition, including office facilities, a truck repair shop and modern washing and storage facilities.
1995
RE-FOUNDATION OF BÖCKENHOLT TRANSPORT GMBH
Securing the future has always been a key aspect for Ferdinand Möllenbeck. When Böckenholt Schwertransporte in Münster was available, major parts of the truck fleet and staff were taken over. This included as well the branch office in Schenkendorf near Berlin (today located in Mittenwalde).
2013
HEAVY CARGO WAREHOUSING HÜNXE
In 2014, the new location in Hünxe was opened as additional branch office with perfect location to Highway A3 and the river Rhine, featuring one of the most modern heavy duty warehouses in North-Rhine-Westphalia.
2014
MANAGEMENT CHANGE
In June 2014, Ferdinand Möllenbeck stepped down from his position as managing director of the company. He still is associated as consultant. Since then Stefan Möllenbeck has been acting as sole managing director of Ferdinand Hövelmann Spedition GmbH and R. Böckenholt Transport GmbH. His sister, Claudia Ernsten (M.Sc. Business Administration) who also has power of procuration supports as head of Finance. In addition she is in charge of quality management.
